Two of UK house musicâs finest join forces on âZP Dubâ / âPorta Timeâ,
a new two-track single out today on Local Action.
Both T and Bashmoreâs histories are interlocked: they were both part
of the undergroundâs infiltration of pop music that was such a big
part of dance musicâs story in the early 2010s, touring the world and
becoming globally-recognised names while working with the likes of
Jessie Ware and Disclosure, and they also run the vinyl-focused Conch
label, releasing a series of excellent 12âs in the late 2010s.
On âZP Dubâ, they draw from their mutual love of loopy French house
and minimal dance floor dynamics, mixed live on the desk at Casa del
Bash, while âPorta Timeâ - which actually dates back to 2017 - is a UK
Funky epic driven by springy drums and big keys. As with much of T and
Bashmoreâs best material, itâs the perfect example of doing a lot with
a little, making sure every channel counts. Not an inch of fat on
these two.
âZP Dubâ / âPorta Timeâ follows this yearâs Bashmore comeback single
âBubblinâ (one of Pitchforkâs Songs of the Summer, and a favourite in
recent sets by Overmono, Ahadadream, Kornel Kovacs and more) and
acclaimed recent T. Williams releases on Strictly Rhythm, Defected and
Purple City. It also marks T. Williamsâ return to Local Action after
inaugurating the label way back in 2010, and releasing four of the
labelâs first releases back in its formative years, including the
classic âHeartbeatâ.
